Digital Sovereignty
Digital Sovereignty is the claim that a country, institution, or organization needs meaningful control over its data, AI infrastructure, legal jurisdiction, and technology dependencies. In EP 47: The AI Pioneer Who Decided Privacy Matters More Than Hype, Jonathan Schaeffer uses Canada and Europe to argue that reliance on mostly U.S. AI companies creates a sovereignty problem when sensitive data, models, or compute must stay under local control.
The concept extends individual Local Private AI into an institutional and national frame.
