Facilitated Immersive Play / 引导式沉浸游戏
Definition
Facilitated immersive play is a group-experience model in which text or scenario quality, participant-role fit, facilitator guidance, and sustained player commitment jointly determine whether a fictional situation becomes coherent and affecting.
Current Synthesis
EP194 rejects immersion as a property of scenery alone. Costume, rooms, lighting, and music can support a session, but strong writing, suitable allocation, timely DM guidance, and attentive co-players can create immersion even online or in visually simple settings. Because participants mediate one another’s access to the story, experience quality is multiplicative: one component cannot reliably substitute for the absence of another.
Role fit is also plural. Some players project personal experience into a character, some understand the character’s internal logic without self-identification, and some maintain distance. Good facilitation therefore does not require one authorized form of emotional absorption; it protects comprehension, pacing, information flow, consent, and enough shared attention for different modes of participation to coexist.
Key Claims
- Immersion is jointly produced by scenario quality, role fit, facilitation, and participant attention.
- Physical production supports but does not guarantee immersion, while text and interaction can sometimes sustain it with minimal scenery.
- Role allocation improves when facilitators discuss disposition, reading tolerance, and desired intensity before assigning characters.
- Players can enter roles through self-projection, internal understanding, or more distanced interpretation.
- The facilitator manages pacing, prompts, music, clarification, and relationship comprehension without replacing player agency.
- Divided attention and absence are especially damaging when information is distributed across participants.
Evidence
- Quality system: EP194-在剧本杀里沉浸爆哭是一种怎样的体验? repeatedly identifies script, DM, role-player match, and co-player investment as interdependent experience factors.
- Multiple entry modes: EP194-在剧本杀里沉浸爆哭是一种怎样的体验? contrasts personal projection, understanding a character’s logic, and remaining at a distance.
- Production boundary: EP194-在剧本杀里沉浸爆哭是一种怎样的体验? argues that decoration and costume are optional supports while strong text and serious participation are more fundamental.
- Remote facilitation: EP194-在剧本杀里沉浸爆哭是一种怎样的体验? describes online and remote-DM sessions in which prompting, music, pacing, and interpretation remain possible if players protect the time.
Counterevidence & Qualifications
The model is derived from player testimony about 剧本杀, not controlled comparison across games, theatre, education, or therapy. Emotional intensity is not an automatic measure of artistic quality, and crying does not establish insight, safety, or durable benefit. Role matching can improve fit but may also stereotype participants or narrow experimentation; facilitators need to preserve consent and allow players to disengage safely even though abrupt withdrawal can disrupt the group.
What Changed
- Established immersion as a jointly produced system rather than a set-decoration effect.
- Distinguished several legitimate ways of relating to a role.
- Added online and remote facilitation as conditional possibilities rather than categorical substitutes.
