Industrial firepower asymmetry is the pattern in which a battle is decided less by courage, numbers or initiative than by a difference in weapons systems: one side’s fire arrives continuously and accurately while the other side’s doctrine depends on a mechanical pause that the enemy’s equipment removes.

706. Queen Victoria’s Revenge: Storming the Citadel (Part 2) grounds the concept through the Battle of Magdala on Good Friday, 11 April 1868. Teodros II kept about 7,000 loyalists on the heights with his guns and sent them to charge as soon as the British reached the plateau, telling them to take leave of their families for the honour of dying with a king. His artillery was so inaccurate that shells sailed over the British and one gun exploded. His infantry charged with spears and war songs, expecting the British to have to reload.
