继位权威整合 / Succession Authority Consolidation
Definition
Succession authority consolidation is the pattern in which a new ruler turns inherited title, kinship, or appointment into practical control by pairing external breathing room, visible support structures, personnel recognition, advice channels, and selective coercion. The concept is narrower than succession itself: it focuses on the first operating tests after succession, when commanders, relatives, appointees, and outside patrons learn whether the new authority is real.
Current Synthesis
Hanji 1052 and Hanji 1053 now make the concept a two-stage 孙权 case. The first stage is protection and legibility. 张纮 restrains 曹操 from attacking during Sun Quan’s mourning and redirects the moment toward formal recognition. 吴夫人 entrusts Zhang Hong and 张昭 with assisting the under-19 successor, while 董袭 reassures her that geography, Sun Ce’s favor, Sun Quan’s inheritance, and civil-military alignment can hold Jiangdong together.
Hanji 1053 supplies the next operating tests. Sun Quan inspects commanders, rewards 吕蒙 after seeing disciplined troops, accepts 骆统’s talent-observation advice, punishes 孙辅 for secretly inviting Cao Cao, and destroys 李术 after cutting off Cao-side rescue. The synthesis is therefore not a simple praise of severity. Recognition and discipline make consolidation real, but the Li Shu campaign also includes civilian slaughter and forced relocation.
Key Claims
- Inherited title is unstable until external attack pressure is managed and inherited people can see a support structure around the successor.
- Senior advisers and family elders make succession legible before the successor can prove independent command capacity.
- Personnel recognition can consolidate authority when the successor observes actual performance rather than relying only on senior opinions or inherited status.
- Advice channels matter because a new ruler needs repeated contact with worthies before they become usable capacity.
- Internal defectors and semi-autonomous appointees become urgent when they can invite an outside patron to turn a domestic succession problem into a wider war.
- Coercive consolidation may produce real authority while also imposing costs that must remain visible in the synthesis.
Evidence
- External breathing room: Hanji 1052 shows Zhang Hong persuading Cao Cao not to attack during Sun Quan’s mourning and helping turn the decision toward formal recommendation.
- Support-structure visibility: Hanji 1052 shows Lady Wu entrusting Zhang Hong and Zhang Zhao with assisting Sun Quan and Dong Xi reassuring her that civil and military followers can hold Jiangdong.
- Early talent judgment: Hanji 1052 shows Sun Quan trusting Zhang Hong despite court-appointment concerns and valuing Lu Su despite Zhang Zhao’s criticism.
- Personnel recognition: Hanji 1053 shows Sun Quan inspecting military units and increasing Lyu Meng’s troops after seeing their discipline.
- Advice-channel formation: Hanji 1053 has Luo Tong advise Sun Quan to honor worthies, meet them, ask about their situations, and observe their speech.
- Internal threat suppression: Hanji 1053 records Sun Fu’s secret message to Cao Cao and Sun Quan’s punishment of his intimates, troop breakup, and eastward relocation.
- Outside rescue cutoff and coercive result: Hanji 1053 reports Sun Quan’s letter to Cao Cao before attacking Li Shu, followed by Wan City’s capture, Li Shu’s death, civilian slaughter, and forced relocation.
Counterevidence & Qualifications
The source’s management language is interpretive and should not be turned into a universal organization rule. The current evidence is still Sun Quan-centered; Liu Zhang’s Yizhou failure in Hanji 1053 is a contrast case, not a second fully developed positive example. Finally, coercive success does not erase civilian harm: the Li Shu campaign is evidence for effective consolidation and for the costs of making authority visible through force.
What Changed
- Added Hanji 1052 as the earlier stage of succession consolidation: external restraint, adviser entrustment, follower confidence, and early talent judgment.
- Reframed Hanji 1053 as the second operating-test stage rather than the whole concept.
- Added Dong Xi and Zhang Hong to the concept’s evidence inventory while preserving the Li Shu violence qualification.
Related Concepts
- 统帅连续性危机处置 - predecessor problem where sudden leadership loss must first be prevented from becoming command collapse.
- 名声约束下的战争节制 - external-restraint mechanism that gives the successor breathing room before internal authority is tested.
- 礼贤下士式人才吸附 - complementary mechanism for drawing capable people toward the new ruler.
- 识人授权信任 - personnel mechanism for turning observed conduct into delegation.
- 榻上策二分天下 - outward strategy that gives the young successor an agenda while internal authority is still forming.
- 安全第一政治生存 - survival frame for cutting off outside rescue channels before internal threats grow.
- 名器合法性 - legitimacy frame showing why title and recognized office still matter during consolidation.
- 外来武装与本土豪族裂缝 - contrast pattern where inherited force and local society fail to fuse under a successor.
