Overview

阿罗多 / Aluoduo is the Cheshi Hou king in Hanji 839 whose rebellion, flight, return, and negotiated restoration make him a compact case of frontier-vassal management. He is not presented as innocent; his importance is that restoring him becomes safer for Han order than replacing him when he still has local support and can seek 北匈奴 backing.

Aluoduo first appears in conflict with the Han official responsible for the area. The disagreement turns military: he rebels, surrounds Han屯田 troops, and causes casualties. Once part of the Cheshi population defects to Han authorities, Aluoduo loses room and flees north with around one hundred cavalry.
