Anybots

Anybots is Trevor Blackwell’s robotics company in Trevor Blackwell on Viaweb, Robots, and Early Y Combinator. Blackwell started it soon after leaving Yahoo, building prototype legs in his basement before moving into larger space and pursuing human-sized robots that could balance dynamically rather than only walk through large-footed, carefully controlled motion.

The source names Dexter as the walking robot and Monty as an upper-torso robot on wheels. Anybots also became part of early Y Combinator lore because YC used part of its Mountain View space, robot demonstrations gave visitors something memorable to see, and the lab bench helped teams such as Justin.tv repair hardware.
