渤海王国 / Bohai Kingdom (late Han)
渤海王国 appears in Hanji 903 as the royal fief restored to 刘亏 through 王甫’s palace brokerage. The fief becomes politically dangerous when Liu refuses to pay Wang the promised fifty million cash and Wang turns Liu’s resentment into a treason accusation.
The episode treats Bohai as more than Liu’s title. Once 汉灵帝 believes the accusation, a Jizhou inspector is sent to interrogate Liu there, and Bohai’s royal household and bureaucracy are pulled into the case. Liu dies by suicide, his concubines, children, and dancers die in prison, and the fief’s officials from senior posts downward are implicated.
This page is distinct from 渤海郡 / Bohai Commandery (late Han), which tracks a later commandery assignment in the Yuan Shao-Gongsun Zan conflict rather than Liu Kui’s restored royal kingdom.
