Buena Vista Distribution
Buena Vista Distribution is the Disney distribution arm created in 1953 and discussed in The Walt Disney Company: Walt’s Era. The episode presents it as a move away from reliance on outside distributors once The Walt Disney Company had enough working capital and operating stability to control more of its own film distribution.
Buena Vista connects the Oswald lesson to later strategy. Losing Oswald the Lucky Rabbit showed the danger of customer/distributor dependence; decades later, direct distribution became another node in Vertical Media Distribution and the Entertainment IP Flywheel.
