蔡赐 / Cai Ci
蔡赐 / Cai Ci enters the wiki through Qinji 128-5 as the 上柱国 who stops 陈胜 from turning 武臣’s Zhao kingship into an immediate second enemy. When Chen Sheng hears that Wu Chen has called himself Zhao king, he wants to kill Wu Chen’s family and attack the new Zhao authority.
Cai Ci’s argument is strategic rather than sentimental. 秦国 has not yet been overthrown, so killing Wu Chen’s family would force the rebels to fight Qin and Zhao at once. Chen Sheng accepts the advice, moves Wu Chen’s family near the palace, and sends congratulations while ordering Wu Chen west against Qin.
The episode reads the family relocation as practical soft detention. Cai Ci therefore becomes the adviser who preserves a temporary anti-Qin alignment, but his solution cannot prevent 反秦阵营诸侯化分裂 once 张耳 and 陈馀 persuade Wu Chen to prioritize Zhao’s own expansion.
