长安 / Chang’an (Han capital)

长安 / Chang’an enters the wiki as the early 西汉 capital chosen in Hanji 170 part 2. The page uses the ChangAnHanCapital key to avoid confusion with 唐代长安, 长安君, and 长安镇.

In the episode, Chang’an is not introduced as a cultural-symbolic capital first. It is the city that makes 关中 usable as an imperial base after 楼敬 and 张良 persuade 刘邦 to leave 洛阳 / 洛邑. Its value comes from the surrounding region: protected approaches, fertile land, links to 巴蜀, northern pastoral supply, and Yellow River / Wei River transport for moving resources and armies.

The source therefore makes Chang’an part of 战略性迁都. The founding court’s move west turns a war-won Qin heartland into a durable Han capital base rather than treating Luoyang’s Zhou-centered prestige as sufficient for the new dynasty.
