陈耽 / Chen Dan (late Han)
Hanji 920 first places Chen Dan in the late-Han court as the official appointed situ in October 181 after 杨赐 is dismissed. The appointment appears in a sequence of hail, eclipse, palace fire, and senior office turnover under 汉灵帝.
That office marker gives the later Hanji 922 correction scene a clearer setup: Chen Dan is not introduced only at the moment of protest, but as a senior court officeholder in the churn immediately before the 182 anti-corruption review failure.
Hanji 922 presents Chen Dan as the situ who challenges the false 182 CE corruption review prepared by 许訏 and 张济. After wrongly accused officials, subordinates, and local people appeal at 洛阳, Chen Dan tells 汉灵帝 that the review has released harmful officials and imprisoned worthy ones.
His intervention repairs part of the administrative damage because the wronged officials are promoted after the emperor investigates. The episode also preserves the limit of this repair: the filtering officials are only scolded, so Chen Dan’s memorial is a bright moment inside continuing 君臣反馈失灵.
