成皋 / Chenggao

成皋 / Chenggao enters the wiki through the 荥阳相持 branch as the companion front to 荥阳 in the Chu-Han central theater. Hanji 159-1 places it inside the broader struggle over the Xingyang, Chenggao, and 敖仓 logistics zone.

Hanji 162-1 makes Chenggao part of 袁先生 / 袁生’s strategic timing argument. After 刘邦 escapes Xingyang, Yuan Sheng advises him to draw 项羽 south by way of 武关 and to avoid battle, so that the Xingyang-Chenggao front can rest and repair.

Hanji 162-2 gives Chenggao another reversal. Liu Bang retakes it while Xiang Yu goes east against 彭越, but Xiang Yu later returns, retakes the line, and makes Liu Bang abandon the position. Chenggao’s fall becomes the immediate trigger for Liu Bang’s flight north and 统帅权再收束 at 韩信 and 张耳’s camp.

Hanji 162-3 makes Chenggao a hinge in two arguments. 郦食其 tells 刘邦 not to abandon the Chenggao-敖仓 zone because grain and pass control can restore the front; meanwhile 项羽 leaves 曹咎 to hold Chenggao when he turns east against Peng Yue. The source treats Li Shiqi’s claim that Chenggao is already secure as rhetorical overstatement, but it preserves the place’s strategic role.

Hanji 163 completes that delegated-defense test with failure. Cao Jiu leaves Chenggao through the east gate after repeated insults, is hit while crossing 汜水, and loses the city back to Liu Bang. Chenggao’s fall also restores Han control over 敖仓, so the fortress becomes the hinge between a tactical provocation and Xiang Yu’s growing food shortage at 广武.
