程昱 / Cheng Yu

Hanji 961 adds Cheng Yu’s pre-Cao judgment scene before the later crisis-adviser branch. When 刘岱 is pressured by 公孙瓒 through 范方 over 袁绍’s household, Cheng Yu argues that distant Gongsun Zan is not reliable protection and that Yuan Shao is unlikely to harm Liu Dai if Liu Dai stays neutral.

The same source supplies Cheng Yu’s entry route into 曹操’s camp. After Liu Dai dies, 荀彧 recommends Cheng Yu, Cao Cao sends repeated invitations to 东阿, and the episode preserves the name-change story from 程立 to 程昱. This backfills why later Hanji 978-981 can treat him as a locally rooted, hard-edged operator rather than only a blunt adviser at one crisis point.

Hanji 976 appears to invoke Cheng Yu through the transcript wording “陈玉” in its description of Cao Cao’s adviser “cloud platform.” The wiki treats this cautiously as a likely Cheng Yu cluster reference because the surrounding roles are 荀彧 managing strategy and 郭嘉 supplying surprise counsel, while existing Hanji 978-981 pages already make Cheng Yu the Cao-side gap-filling crisis operator.

The source adds no new concrete Cheng Yu episode. Its value is synthetic: Cheng Yu helps show that 曹操’s adviser system depends on multiple complementary roles inside 谋士政权架构.

Hanji 977 adds a darker, source-scoped interpretation of Cheng Yu. The episode presents him as an adviser willing to take moral stain for 曹操, including an extreme grain-crisis story and a broader willingness to be selectively silent when public cleanliness would endanger the ruler’s position.

This branch links Cheng Yu to 毒士灰度谋略 rather than only to blunt crisis advice. The wiki keeps the episode’s “dirty-work protects the ruler’s image” reading as thematic commentary, while the more concrete Yanzhou route-control and Yuan Shao dependency cases remain grounded in Hanji 978-981.

Hanji 978 adds the persuasion stage immediately before Cheng Yu’s route-control work in Hanji 979. 荀彧 sends him east because Cheng Yu has local prestige around 东阿, and Cheng Yu first passes through 范县 to stabilize 靳允 despite 吕布’s family-hostage pressure.

Cheng Yu’s argument is a concrete 行势情战略评估 case. He asks Jin Yun to compare Cao Cao’s long-term capacity with Lü Bu and 陈宫’s limitations, turning a hostage crisis into a decision about which political field can last. Jin Yun’s later killing of 范仪 keeps Fan County in Cao Cao’s remaining base.

Hanji 979 moves Cheng Yu one step earlier in 曹操’s 兖州 crisis. When 陈宫 tries to move through 仓亭津 toward 东阿, Cheng Yu sends light cavalry ahead, controls the crossing, and removes boats so Chen Gong cannot arrive in time.

The source makes Cheng Yu’s value operational before it is advisory. His later Hanji 981 warning against 袁绍 preserves Cao Cao’s independence; this episode shows the prior work that preserves Cao Cao’s physical base. Cao Cao’s reported thanks that he would have had nowhere to return without Cheng Yu is treated as source-scoped praise, but the underlying claim is narrower: base survival depends on route control and local mobilization as much as battlefield command.

程昱 / Cheng Yu enters the wiki through Hanji 981 as the adviser who stops 曹操 from accepting 袁绍’s proposal to send Cao Cao’s family to Ye. The episode places Cao Cao at a crisis point after losing much of 兖州 and running short of grain, so Yuan Shao’s offer looks like relief but would also make Cao Cao’s household a political pledge.

Cheng Yu’s intervention is direct. He asks whether Cao Cao is afraid, argues that Yuan Shao has ambition without enough judgment, and reminds Cao Cao that he still has three cities, more than ten thousand soldiers, 荀彧, and Cheng Yu himself. In the source’s reading, the advice works because it converts fear into a realistic inventory of remaining capacity.

The page is source-scoped. Hanji 981 does not narrate Cheng Yu’s whole career; it uses him as the person whose blunt timing keeps Cao Cao from entering a 家属质押式依附陷阱.
