楚惠王 / King Hui of Chu
楚惠王 / King Hui of Chu enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·秦纪》119-2｜咱们都冤枉了背负2000多年黑锅的“叶公好龙”, where he is the ruler endangered during the 白公胜之乱. After 白公胜 defeats a 吴国 attack, he requests permission to enter the Chu capital without disarming while presenting captives. Chu Hui Wang, 子西, and the sima all allow it, giving Bai the opening for rebellion.
The episode does not develop Chu Hui Wang as a full ruler biography. His role is structural: the ruler’s captured body makes Bai Gong Sheng’s private revenge into a regime crisis, and 叶公’s later action becomes legitimate because it restores the endangered ruler rather than merely defeating a rival.
