春申君 / 黄歇 / Lord Chunshen
春申君 / 黄歇 / Lord Chunshen first appears in 《资治通鉴·周纪》63丨 德高望重孟尝君是伪君子? as the 楚国 member of the 战国四公子. That earlier episode mentions him only in comparison with 孟尝君 / 田文, 信陵君, and 平原君.
《资治通鉴·周纪》84丨防止秦国灭楚竟用这招? makes Huang Xie the central actor. While he is in 秦国 as a Chu envoy, he hears that 白起 is preparing to move with 韩国 and 魏国 against Chu again. He writes to 秦昭襄王 and argues from Qin’s advantage rather than from Chu’s weakness.
The letter’s craft is 利益重构式说服. Huang Xie praises Qin’s power, warns that extreme success can reverse, invokes 吴王夫差 and 智瑶 as examples of rulers destroyed after trusting temporary partners, and reframes Han and Wei as resentful corridor states that could endanger Qin’s rear. He then offers Qin-Chu alliance as the more useful route for Qin to press Han, Wei, 齐国, and 赵国.
The episode also makes Huang Xie a case of elite rhetorical competence. His use of 《诗经》, Yijing, and historical precedent belongs with 诗经作为贵族政治语言 and 纵横家外交: classical citation gives the argument status and shared language, while the strategic map gives it operational force.
《资治通鉴·周纪》85|宣太后为何私通30年后暗杀了老情人? follows the practical sequel to that success. After Qin accepts friendship with 楚国, Chu sends its crown prince to 秦国 as hostage and Huang Xie accompanies him as left official. The episode treats this as the opening of Huang Xie’s later rise: a hostage prince in a foreign court depends heavily on trusted attendants, so Huang Xie’s Qin service becomes a future power base.
《资治通鉴·周纪》92丨历史上第一位著名舔狗是谁?(1) shows Huang Xie cashing in that nine-year attachment to the hostage prince. When 楚顷襄王 is gravely ill and 太子完 remains in Xianyang, Huang Xie argues to 范雎 that Qin should let the prince return and inherit rather than let another Chu prince make him valueless. When 秦昭襄王 hesitates, Huang Xie proposes a risk-transfer plan: Mi Wan flees disguised as a Chu envoy’s driver, while Huang Xie remains behind to conceal the escape.
《资治通鉴·周纪》92丨历史上第一位著名舔狗是谁?(2) completes that risk-transfer plan. Huang Xie waits until Mi Wan is safely back in Chu, then admits the escape and accepts whatever punishment 秦国 chooses. 范雎 persuades Qin Zhaoxiang Wang that killing Huang Xie would only fight a sunk cost, while sending him back may preserve future Qin influence over the new Chu ruler.
After 芈完 / 楚考烈王 succeeds, the episode makes Huang Xie’s reward the beginning of his Chunshenjun identity: he becomes chancellor, receives Huai River-region territory, and is compared against the other 战国四公子 as the one whose rise is framed most directly through personal merit, courage, and long companionship with the future ruler. The source also records the Shanghai/申城 and Huangpu River associations as cultural memory around Huang Xie, kept source-scoped rather than treated as settled geography.
《资治通鉴·周纪》93丨在梦里藏着偷天改命?(1) uses that survival and promotion as the handoff into the next annalistic year. Huang Xie is now safely back in 楚国 and elevated, but the episode’s immediate Chu point is sober: 楚考烈王’s first year still brings land cession to 秦国, so Chunshenjun’s personal rise sits inside continued Chu weakness.
《资治通鉴·周纪》95丨长平之战后秦国为什么没有灭了赵国(2) gives Chunshenjun a post-长平之战 coalition signal rather than a full action scene. 赵国 grants him Lingqiu as an overture toward 楚国, suggesting that Zhao is trying to reopen 合纵 after refusing or failing to complete its promised land cession to Qin.
《资治通鉴·周纪》96丨毛遂自荐(2) notes Chunshenjun’s absence from the narrated 平原君 mission to 楚考烈王. The episode says Zhao had previously worked through him and that he had anti-Qin inclination, but this scene has Pingyuanjun negotiate directly with the king until 毛遂 intervenes. For the wiki, his role here is source-scoped context: he would have been an obvious intermediary, but the episode does not give him action in the Chu court.
