Cindy Cordes
Cindy Cordes appears in A pro-worker experiment in private equity as a Capital Safety manufacturing lead overseeing about 40 production-floor workers when KKR bought the company. Her initial worry was that private-equity ownership might close the plant, move work overseas, or cut jobs.
Cindy’s story shows the weak version of Private Equity Worker Ownership. KKR granted Capital Safety workers equity, but workers did not learn about it clearly until the 2015 sale to [[ThreeM|3M]]. Cindy received a five-figure payout and used it to pay off credit cards, yet she says workers might have tried harder to grow the company if the ownership stake had been communicated earlier.
