ClassMetric
ClassMetric is the first startup idea Peter Reinhardt describes in Peter Reinhardt on Segment’s Pivots and Charm Industrial’s Carbon Removal. The product gave students a button to anonymously indicate confusion during lectures while professors saw a graph of confusion over time.
The episode uses ClassMetric as a Founder Idea Pivot case. Y Combinator accepted the team despite skepticism from Paul Graham and Robert Morris, but real classroom use showed that laptops often created distraction rather than useful feedback. The failed classroom product left behind an analytics routing need that later produced [[AnalyticsJS|analytics.js]] and Segment.
