Desh Garments

Desh Garments is the export-oriented garment factory in Bangladesh created through the Abdul Majid Chowdhury and Daewoo transfer story in Getting entrepreneurial in Korea (Summer School). The episode says it opened in Chittagong in 1980 after a group of Bangladeshis trained in Korea for six months.

Its wiki role is as a first-rung Industrial Ladder case. Desh Garments shows how Textile Knowledge Transfer can seed a much larger export sector, while the later discussion of Rana Plaza keeps the safety and institutional costs of fast garment industrialization visible.
