丁原 / Ding Yuan (late Han)

丁原 / Ding Yuan enters the wiki through Hanji 945 as one of the commanders drawn into 何进’s anti-eunuch escalation. He Jin orders Ding Yuan into 河内郡, and the source says Ding Yuan burns Mengjin as part of the pressure around 洛阳.

Hanji 947 later uses Ding Yuan as the late-Han commander whose force becomes the first major absorption target after 董卓 enters Luoyang. The source says 吕布 serves under him as a trusted clerk and subordinate, making Lü Bu’s later defection a command-trust failure rather than a routine transfer.

His role is brief but structurally important. Dong Zhuo cannot rely on his initial small force alone, so turning Lü Bu against Ding Yuan lets him remove a rival commander and fold Ding Yuan’s troops into the new coercive court field. Ding Yuan therefore becomes the source’s hinge between 军力声势表演 and actual force expansion.
