东垣 / Dongyuan enters the wiki through Hanji 182 part 2 as the Zhao-region stronghold to which 赵利 retreats during 刘邦’s suppression of 陈豨之乱. The episode presents the city as a hard target rather than an easy submission.
After Dongyuan holds out and its defenders curse Liu Bang, the source says Liu Bang kills the captured people who had cursed him. The same passage also places the punishment beside broader pacification measures for counties in the Dai and Zhao theater, showing the campaign as a mixture of terror, relief, and symbolic reordering.
Liu Bang renames Dongyuan as 真定, turning the captured place into a political statement of “true pacification.” The page therefore links a battlefield siege to the early Han practice of rewriting local geography after rebellion.
