段小楼 / Duan Xiaolou

段小楼 is the adult stage identity of Xiaoshitou in [[FarewellMyConcubine|《霸王别姬》]], as read by 64.霸王别姬：疯魔与成活. The episode begins his arc as protective: in the troupe he shelters Xiaodouzi and absorbs punishment for helping him. Later, as the “霸王” partner of [[ChengDieyi|程蝶衣]], he becomes famous through their joint performance.

The source’s sharper reading is that Duan Xiaolou is a compromised or false overlord. He saves [[Juxian|菊仙]] at Huamanlou and marries her, but under political pressure he humiliates Cheng Dieyi, denies love for Juxian, and survives by bending to reality.
