督亢地图 / Du Kang Map enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·秦纪》114-3｜荆轲刺秦为何久久不行动？在等谁？ as one of the two gifts 荆轲 says he needs before approaching 嬴政 / 秦始皇. Together with 樊无忌’s head, the map is meant to make Jing Ke’s envoy role credible and valuable enough to bring him physically close to the Qin king.
The episode treats the map differently from Fan Wuji’s head. 燕太子丹 can provide the map without the same moral crisis, while Fan Wuji’s death forces the plan to consume a protected guest. The pair still operates together as a single access design: territorial submission plus enemy fugitive trophy.
《资治通鉴·秦纪》115-1｜荆轲刺秦似乎有点儿草率了 shows the map inside the Qin audience ritual. In the staged surrender script sent through 蒙嘉, the map signals that 燕国 is willing to accept Qin’s real administrative control. 秦武阳 initially carries it behind 荆轲, but after he panics at the palace steps, Jing Ke takes the map and proceeds alone.
