Overview

都辽营 / Duliao Camp is the Eastern Han frontier institution created in Hanji 737 after 郑众 detects a 南匈奴 attempt to coordinate with 北匈奴. The page treats it as a source-bounded institutional response to collusion risk: troops are stationed at Wuyuan under a provisional Duliao general arrangement to keep the submitted Xiongnu branch from sliding back toward the northern rival.

Hanji 737 says Da sinong Geng Guo had earlier proposed creating a Duliao general at Wuyuan to prevent Southern Xiongnu flight, but the court did not initially adopt it. The need becomes concrete when 虚骨都侯 resents Han contact with Northern Xiongnu, secretly seeks northern help, and plans rebellion.

Zheng Zhong detects the plot while crossing the frontier, captures Xugu Duhou’s messenger, and memorializes the danger. Han then creates Duliaoying, has Wu Tang act as Duliao general, and stations troops at Wuyuan. The institution is therefore born from a credibility problem: contact with an enemy branch can unsettle an allied branch unless the court adds surveillance and military containment.
