伊斯特拉凡 / Estraven is the exiled [[Karhide|卡海德 / Karhide]] politician and central moral figure in [[UrsulaKLeGuin|Le Guin]]’s [[TheLeftHandOfDarkness|《黑暗的左手》]]. In 36.黑暗的左手：流放与爱的未来往事, Estraven begins as prime minister, loses office after trying to avoid border conflict with [[Orgoreyn|欧格瑞恩 / Orgoreyn]], and becomes officially marked as a traitor.

The episode reads Estraven as the character who understands the scale of the problem before others do. He protects [[GenlyAi|金利·艾 / Genly Ai]], tries to use the [[Ekumen|艾库曼 / Ekumen]] contact to break Gethen’s nationalist rivalry, rescues Genly from a forced-labor farm, crosses the ice with him, and finally dies in a way that makes the political truth harder to bury.
