Hanji 806 gives Gao Fan a report-channel role. Yu Xu’s son and more than one hundred students wait outside the palace, bloody themselves by repeated kowtow, and ask that Yu Xu be spared after 张防’s retaliation. Gao Fan reports this pressure to Shun, helping reopen a case that had been distorted through Zhang Fang’s access.

Hanji 824 gives Gao Fan a later procedural-risk role. During the Chengguang Palace episode, Gao Fan comes from the inner palace to fetch the crown prince without producing an imperial edict or credential.
