耿鄙 / Geng Bi (late Han)

耿鄙 / Geng Bi (late Han) enters through Hanji 937 as the Liangzhou inspector whose command collapses before the 187 CE western rebellion expands. He trusts the corrupt 程球 and ignores 傅燮’s advice to slow down, discipline the army, and wait for 韩遂’s rebel coalition to fracture.

When the army reaches 狄道, mutineers kill Cheng Qiu and then Geng Bi. Hanji 937 therefore makes Geng Bi a direct source case for 边郡军政崩盘: personnel corruption and timing failure break the force before a normal campaign can unfold.

Hanji 938 continues the consequence layer. The transcript renders him as “耿彼”; this page keeps the late-Han inspector identity but records the correction as source-scoped. His subordinate 马腾 rises from low resources through military service, but after Geng Bi is betrayed and killed, Ma Teng continues into rebellion with Han Sui and 王国. The source ties that move to frontier governance failure: the local official order has become intolerable for both Qiang-Hu groups and ordinary people.
