耿夔 / Geng Kui (late Han)

Overview

耿夔 / Geng Kui is now a multi-front Eastern Han commander in the wiki’s bounded evidence. Hanji 761 places him under Yan Pan in the Jiluoshan attack against Northern Xiongnu, Hanji 763 later pairs him with Ren Shang in the Jinwei Mountain pursuit, and Hanji 776 records him as the Liaodong administrator who counterattacks Goguryeo after king Gong raids Han border counties.

Current Profile

Hanji 761 supplies the earliest current layer. During Dou Xian’s Northern Xiongnu expedition, Dou sends deputy colonel Yan Pan, Sima Geng Kui, and Geng Tan with more than ten thousand Southern Xiongnu cavalry. They meet the Northern Xiongnu chanyu at Jiluoshan and win, then the campaign pursues to Siqu Beihai and culminates in Yanran commemoration.

Hanji 763 gives the later Jinwei Mountain layer. After Southern Xiongnu attacks badly weaken the northern chanyu’s camp, Geng Kui and Ren Shang lead troops out through Juyan, defeat Northern Xiongnu forces at Jinwei Mountain, and force the chanyu to flee. The page therefore treats Geng as part of Dou Xian’s wider Northern Xiongnu campaign field, even though the sources distribute details across multiple episodes.

Hanji 776 adds the later northeastern layer. Goguryeo king Gong enters the Liaodong frontier and plunders six subordinate counties. In autumn of the same year, Geng Kui attacks Goguryeo and defeats its forces. The source does not provide more tactical detail, but it gives Geng a second clear place in the Emperor He frontier field before later An-era Goguryeo material.

Qualifications

This page should not be used as a full biography of Geng Kui, a complete reconstruction of the Northern Xiongnu campaign, or a complete history of Han-Goguryeo conflict. The wiki currently treats the Jiluoshan, Jinwei, and Liaodong notices as belonging to the same canonical Geng Kui page, but troop numbers, routes, exact command hierarchy, and office sequence remain source-scoped unless later bounded notes require a split or expansion.
