共敖 / Gong Ao enters the wiki through Hanji 143 as one of the Chu-side commanders rewarded by 项羽. The episode says Gong Ao attacked Nan commandery with merit and was made Linjiang king.
Gong Ao’s source role is to show that Xiang Yu’s settlement is not only about old royal houses or Qin surrender leaders. It also rewards Chu military actors whose campaign work helps Xiang Yu claim the authority to divide the post-Qin world.
