公孙越 / Gongsun Yue (late Han)

公孙越 / Gongsun Yue (late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 958 as 公孙瓒’s kinsman and envoy to 袁术. Gongsun Zan sends him with one thousand cavalry after warning 刘虞 not to trust Yuan Shu’s request for troops.

The source then turns Gongsun Yue into the human fuse for the 袁绍-Gongsun Zan rupture. Yuan Shu sends him to assist 孙坚 against 周昂, Yuan Shao’s appointee in the Yuzhou office fight, and Gongsun Yue is killed by a stray arrow. Gongsun Zan treats the death as Yuan Shao’s responsibility, even though the episode keeps the deeper cause in the struggle over territory and offices.
