郭开 / Guo Kai enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·秦纪》104｜阴谋失算让秦国版图又又又膨胀了 as 廉颇’s enemy in 赵国. When 赵道襄王 considers recalling Lian Po from exile, Guo Kai bribes the investigating envoy.
The bribe changes the political meaning of Lian Po’s display. Lian Po eats heavily, wears armor, and mounts a horse to prove he can still command, but the envoy reports bodily weakness instead. In the episode, Guo Kai therefore becomes the court actor who turns Zhao’s possible recovery of a veteran general into another case of trust erosion and self-inflicted military loss.
《资治通鉴·秦纪》113｜李牧如何用一己之力阻秦国统一 makes Guo Kai still more consequential. Qin bribes him to accuse 李牧 and 司马尚 of plotting rebellion, and 赵迁 / 赵幽缪王 acts on the accusation by replacing them with 赵葱 and 颜聚. Guo Kai’s wiki role therefore expands from blocking Lian Po’s return to helping remove Li Mu, the last Zhao commander the source treats as able to delay Qin’s unification.
