Henry III of France

Henry III of France appears in 694. Elizabeth I vs The Catholics: A Treacherous Conspiracy (Part 4) as the childless French king whose succession problem destabilizes France during Elizabeth I’s crisis with Spain. The episode frames him as one of the three Henrys alongside Henry of Navarre and Henry, Duke of Guise.

Henry’s younger brother Francois, Duke of Anjou is useful to Elizabeth because he offers a French diplomatic option and a potential non-Spanish solution in the Low Countries. When Anjou dies in 1584, Henry III is left without a direct heir.
