Hexiehao / 和谐号

Hexiehao is the first major Chinese high-speed EMU family in No.201 中国高铁简史. The episode says it emerged after the Ministry of Railways (China) / 中国铁道部 imported and absorbed foreign technology from suppliers including Kawasaki Heavy Industries / 川崎重工, Alstom / 阿尔斯通, Bombardier / 庞巴迪, and Siemens / 西门子.

The source treats Hexiehao as a transitional system, not a fully unified domestic standard. It carried multiple foreign lineages under one Chinese brand, made the 2007 sixth railway speed-up visible to passengers, and later fed into CRH380 redesign work. Its limitations also explain why China Railway Corporation / 中国铁路总公司 later pursued Chinese Standard EMU and Fuxinghao / 复兴号.
