Hilde Bjornland

Hilde Bjornland is the Norwegian economics professor guiding How to beat the resource curse in Norway (Summer School). She frames Norway as a useful but imperfect case: the country is wealthy and has a broad welfare state, yet still debates productivity, entrepreneurship, public spending, wealth taxes, technology, and AI.

Her main contribution is the institutional reading of Norwegian luck. Bjornland explains Dutch Disease, the resource curse, [[FreeRiderProblem|free riders]], the role of social trust, and why the Norwegian Oil Fund cannot simply be spent as current income.
