日本树莺 / Japanese Bush Warbler
The Japanese bush warbler is the subspecies and naming case in 47.鸟有什么好看的:原来…丹顶鹤是秃的!. The episode uses it to explain Latin scientific names, subspecies names, and Kawakami’s joke that a mainland-breeding subspecies had taken over the common “Japanese bush warbler” identity from the Ogasawara-associated nominate form.
The bird also becomes a conservation complication. After goats and black rats helped eliminate one island population, removing those invasive animals did not simply restore the old state; another subspecies could arrive and create possible gene-flow or identity problems.
