贾彪 / Jia Biao (late Han)
Updated · 2 episodes · 1 show · 2 source notes
Overview
Jia Biao is a late-Han official and party-prohibition rescuer whose current wiki role now spans Hanji 874 and Hanji 876. Hanji 874 adds his refusal to shelter Chen Zhi when that would transfer another person’s political liability onto helpers, plus his Xinxi magistrate enforcement against local infanticide. Hanji 876 then shows his later positive version of leverage-seeking: he goes to 洛阳 and reaches 窦武 as the effective intercessor for imprisoned士人.
Current Profile
Hanji 874 gives Jia Biao a two-sided timing profile. In the fugitive-shelter scene, he refuses to take in Chen Zhi after Chen Jing and Liu Zhi die in prison, because Chen Zhi had helped create the disaster by coercing a superior and should not now implicate others. The source’s formula “相时而动,无累后人” makes Jia Biao a judge of both moment and collateral risk: action is not always virtue if it passes the cost onto people who did not choose the danger.
The same source also gives Jia Biao a local-governance branch. As Xinxi magistrate, he confronts a custom of killing infants, treats child-killing as homicide, and prioritizes a mother-child killing case over an ordinary bandit killing because the former violates the most basic moral relation. The source says bandits surrender and thousands of children later grow up under the changed custom, remembered as “Jia father’s sons.”
Hanji 876 supplies the later rescue branch. After 陈蕃’s removal frightens officials away from pleading for 李膺, 范滂, and the other prisoners, Jia Biao does not submit a direct memorial or stage public protest. He finds Dou Wu, whose family status and court access can actually move 汉桓帝’s decision field. Together, the two episodes make Jia Biao a source case for both 杀婴风俗纠偏 and ethically constrained 权力结构定向求援.
Key Characteristics
- Timing judge who distinguishes necessary action from action that merely transfers danger to helpers.
- Collateral-risk thinker whose refusal to shelter Chen Zhi is grounded in not implicating later people.
- Local magistrate who uses law to reverse normalized infant-killing rather than accepting custom as excuse.
- Moral-order enforcer who prioritizes the mother-child killing case as the deeper social rupture.
- Party-prisoner rescuer who later chooses targeted intercession through Dou Wu instead of expressive protest.
- Low-visibility actor whose value lies in knowing when not to act directly and when to activate the right channel.
Evidence
- Fugitive refusal: Hanji 874 says Jia Biao refuses to shelter Chen Zhi after Chen Jing and Liu Zhi die, because Chen Zhi’s prior coercive action should not implicate other households.
- Timing principle: Hanji 874 preserves the formula “相时而动,无累后人,” which the source uses as Jia Biao’s timing-and-collateral rule.
- Anti-infanticide enforcement: Hanji 874 says Jia Biao forbids local infant-killing and treats it as homicide.
- Priority judgment: Hanji 874 says Jia Biao prioritizes a mother-child killing case over a bandit-killing case because the former violates heavenly and human order more deeply.
- Crisis trigger: Hanji 876 says officials become frightened after Chen Fan is removed, making rescue of the imprisoned party figures harder.
- Decision to go: Hanji 876 says Jia Biao believes the disaster cannot be relieved unless he personally goes to Luoyang.
- Dou Wu leverage: Hanji 876 says Jia Biao visits Dou Wu because Dou is Empress Dou’s father and Emperor Huan’s father-in-law.
- Outcome path: Hanji 876 shows Dou Wu memorializing, Wang Fu being moved by Fan Pang, and eunuchs later requesting pardon under the solar-eclipse pretext.
Qualifications
The current page remains source-bounded to Hanji 874 and Hanji 876 rather than a complete Jia Biao biography. Hanji 874’s Chen Jing, Liu Zhi, Chen Zhi, Zhang Mu, and Xinxi details remain source-scoped pending stronger disambiguation. The transcript form “假标” is normalized to Jia Biao / 贾彪 because the sequence and later Hanji 876 route match the established page.
What Changed
- Hanji 874 moves Jia Biao’s profile earlier than the Hanji 876 party-prisoner rescue branch.
- The page now adds Jia Biao’s refusal to pass fugitive liability onto helpers as a timing-and-collateral principle.
- The page adds Jia Biao’s local infanticide enforcement as a second source-bounded governance branch.
- The current judgment separates “do not implicate others” from later targeted intercession, rather than treating Jia Biao as only a rescue strategist.
Relationships
- 杀婴风俗纠偏 - concept grounded in Jia Biao’s Xinxi enforcement against local child-killing custom.
- 权力结构定向求援 - concept grounded in Jia Biao’s later choice to reach the actor with real leverage, now qualified by Hanji 874’s collateral-risk restraint.
- 窦武 - key intercessor Jia Biao visits to move the party-prisoner case.
- 汉桓帝 - ruler whose anger, prisoner policy, and eventual softening define the decision field.
- 陈蕃 - removed official whose punishment frightens other would-be rescuers.
- 李膺 - imprisoned party figure Jia Biao later tries to help.
- 范滂 - imprisoned party figure whose later prison defense helps shift Wang Fu’s stance.
- 王甫 - interrogator whose reaction becomes part of the release path.
