界桥之战 / Jieqiao Battle (late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 960 as the northern battle following the episode’s 荀彧 camp-choice story. The source places 袁绍 against 公孙瓒 south of Jieqiao, with Gongsun Zan fielding a much larger cavalry-heavy force.
The tactical center is 麹义. Yuan Shao sends Qu Yi forward with a small infantry body and strong crossbows. Gongsun Zan reads the small vanguard as easy to crush, orders a cavalry charge, and runs into a held shield line plus crossbow release. The episode says 严纲, Gongsun Zan’s appointed Jizhou inspector, and more than a thousand soldiers are killed, after which Qu Yi pursues to the enemy camp gate and removes the banner.
For the wiki, Jieqiao is a source case for 盾弩反骑兵战术. It complicates the simple cavalry-superiority story: mounted shock can dominate under some conditions, but disciplined infantry, distance control, and projectile timing can reverse the expected force ratio.
