纪灵 / Ji Ling enters the wiki through Hanji 1008 as the 袁术-side commander sent against 刘备 after Yuan Shu tries to neutralize 吕布 through a marriage alliance. The source says Ji Ling and others lead roughly thirty thousand troops, making Liu Bei ask Lü Bu for help.

Ji Ling’s key role is as the audience and counterparty for 可信武力展示威慑. At the Pei-area meeting, Lü Bu sets a halberd at the gate and tells Ji Ling that if he hits the side branch, the attackers should withdraw. When Lü Bu succeeds, Ji Ling and the other Yuan Shu-side officers accept the display and pull back rather than escalating.
