菊仙 / Juxian

菊仙 is a central character in 《霸王别姬》 and in 64.霸王别姬：疯魔与成活’s reading of the film. She first enters the episode through the Huamanlou scene: 段小楼 catches her when she jumps, then publicly claims an engagement, which she later forces him to honor by redeeming herself and finding him.

The episode argues that Juxian is more than an obstacle between 程蝶衣 and Duan Xiaolou. She has survival intelligence, emotional clarity, and a stronger claim to “霸王” courage than Duan does. Her suicide after Duan denies loving her is read as the loss of the support structure that once caught her, making her both a rival to Dieyi and another version of the abandoned Yu Ji.
