乐恢 / Le Hui (Eastern Han)
Updated · 2 episodes · 1 show · 2 source notes
Overview
乐恢 / Le Hui appears as an Eastern Han official whose anti-Dou Xian role begins before the campaign and later becomes personally dangerous. Hanji 761 places him among officials whose memorials against the Northern Xiongnu expedition are ignored by Empress Dowager Dou, while Hanji 764 shows his later exposure of Dou-linked officials and suicide after Dou pressures local authorities.
Current Profile
Hanji 761 gives Le Hui an early remonstrance layer. Alongside Han Leng and Zhu Hui, he submits advice opposing Dou Xian’s planned northern expedition. The dowager’s refusal to listen places Le Hui inside a broader failed-feedback environment before Dou’s military victory strengthens the family.
Hanji 764 then defines the risk of honest remonstrance under outer-relative dominance. As shangshu puye in that source, Le Hui repeatedly exposes officials and is hated by Dou Xian’s bloc. His memorial warns the powerful uncles around the young ruler that they can preserve honor and wealth only by reducing their grip before resentment and danger accumulate.
The source then makes Le Hui a deterrent example. After the memorial has no effect, he retires sick to Changling. Dou Xian privately instructs local authorities to harass him, and Le Hui kills himself. His current role therefore runs from ignored prewar advice to lethal indirect retaliation.

- Suicide and fear: Hanji 764 says Le Hui dies by suicide and that officials become afraid afterward.
Qualifications
This page does not reconstruct Le Hui’s full career. Hanji 761 and Hanji 764 preserve different role labels and moments; the page treats them as a source-bounded sequence from early remonstrance to later retaliation risk.
What Changed
- Added Hanji 761 as Le Hui’s earlier anti-expedition remonstrance layer.
- Reframed the page around a sequence from ignored advice to later suicide under Dou-linked pressure.

- Zhu Hui - fellow Hanji 761 anti-expedition remonstrant.
