李傕 / Li Jue (late Han)
Hanji 955 adds an earlier pre-remnant role before Li Jue becomes a Chang’an powerholder. 董卓 sends him to 孙坚 with an inducement package: marriage alliance and discretion to appoint Sun Jian’s sons and nephews to offices. Sun Jian rejects the offer, so Li Jue appears here as an envoy for failed co-optation rather than as an independent military actor.
Hanji 965 backfills Li Jue’s immediate pre-Chang’an fear before Hanji 966. After 牛辅 dies and 王允 refuses pardon, Li Jue first considers dispersing his army and fleeing home. 贾诩 reframes that as certain exposure: armed unity and a westward attack on 长安 become the remnant commanders’ survival path.
Hanji 966 backfills Li Jue’s first post-董卓 return to 长安. Following 贾诩’s advice, Li Jue moves from a desperate remnant position into an expanding army, gains momentum after 胡文才 and 杨整修 urge him onward, and joins with 郭汜, 樊稠, and other Dong Zhuo remnant forces around the capital.
The same source adds Li Jue’s early use of captured-court form before the later hostage sequence. After Chang’an falls, Li Jue receives office, demands 王允, executes anti-Dong-Zhuo figures such as 黄琬, and uses the emperor’s summons to draw 宋翼 and 王宏 into reach. This is the pre-967 and pre-984 layer in which military return becomes court capture.
Hanji 969 adds an earlier court-title use before the later Li-Guo rupture dominates the page. 钟繇 persuades Li Jue and 郭汜 to let 曹操 receive the east-conquering-general appointment, showing that Li Jue can still turn 汉献帝’s court into usable recognition for outside warlords even while armed coercion hollows the institution. The same episode later has Li Jue grant 袁术 the left-general, Yangzhai-marquis, and 假节 package as political packaging for Yuan Shu’s Shouchun position.
Hanji 973 supplies an earlier 194 CE conflict layer before the later Li-Guo rupture. 马腾 turns against Li Jue after troop-refusal and source-scoped household-pasture conflict, while 汉献帝’s mediation cannot stop the campaign.
Li Jue’s side still wins the immediate contest. His intelligence channel exposes the inside plot by 种劭, 马宇, and 刘范, then 樊稠, 郭汜, and 李利 defeat Ma Teng and 韩遂 at 长平观之战.
Hanji 979 adds Li Jue’s appointment-capture position before the open Li-Guo hostage symmetry. He already has privilege to open an office like the Three Excellencies, and when 郭汜 and 樊稠 receive similar privileges, court selection becomes a military-controlled field rather than a normal ministerial process.
Hanji 981 supplies the western pressure before the later Li-Guo rupture. 马腾 clashes with Li Jue over grain and joins 韩遂 under a “clear the ruler’s side” claim, while 刘焉 secretly supports Ma Teng with Shu troops and Chang’an-side sons. Li Jue’s intelligence system exposes the plot, and 刘范 plus 刘诞 die while fleeing.
Hanji 984 backfills Li Jue before the open Li-Guo hostage symmetry. He shares Chang’an control with 郭汜 and 樊稠 inside the 凉州系军阀, while plunder and famine devastate 关中. Fan Chou’s victory over 马腾 and 韩遂 should strengthen the bloc, but 李利 reports Fan Chou’s friendly conversation with Han Sui and Li Jue converts existing jealousy of Fan Chou’s bravery and army support into a purge.
The same source then makes Li Jue the first mover in the emperor-seizure branch. After 郭汜 plans to abduct 汉献帝, Li Jue sends 李暹 to surround the palace and move the emperor to his camp; palace plunder and the burning of offices and homes turn Chang’an control into open devastation.
Hanji 985 backfills Li Jue’s position at the start of the 李傕-郭汜 rupture. He holds 汉献帝 while Guo Si holds court ministers, then recruits Qiang-Hu soldiers with gifts and promises of women to rebuild force against Guo Si. The night attack on his camp shows both danger and fragility: arrows reach the emperor’s tent, 张苞 sets fires from inside the camp before defecting, and Li Jue moves the emperor into Beiwu under tighter door control.
The same source gives Li Jue’s coercive hosting its bodily detail. When the hungry emperor requests rice and beef bones for attendants, Li Jue sends rotten bones and leaves 杨琦 to advise restraint because open anger could trigger further relocation toward Chiyang’s Huangbai city.
Hanji 986 backfills Li Jue’s overreach before the later settlement and flight sources. 赵温 writes to warn him that attacking the capital, killing officials, refusing the imperial edict, and continuing the feud with 郭汜 have become signs of disaster, but Li Jue initially wants Zhao Wen killed. When 汉献帝 later sends 皇甫郦 to mediate, Li Jue rejects the settlement, compares himself favorably with Guo Si, and then sends 王昌 after Huangfu Li after receiving a direct rebuke.
The source sharpens Li Jue as a case of 护驾与挟持模糊性 before the physical flight begins. He can receive the 大司马 title through the court, but the episode treats that appointment as a consequence of holding the emperor rather than restored institutional order.
Hanji 988 backfills Li Jue’s weakened Chang’an position before the emperor’s eastward movement. 杨奉’s failed assassination plot and departure reduce Li Jue’s strength, while Li Jue’s Qiang-Hu supporters harass 汉献帝’s lodging until 贾诩 buys them off with titles and goods. The source then treats Li Jue’s later willingness to reconcile with 郭汜 as leverage-driven rather than moral.
Hanji 990 backfills the moment before Li Jue’s renewed pursuit in Hanji 991. After 杨定 attacks 段煨, Li Jue and 郭汜 suspend their private feud because 汉献帝 is slipping out of their control; the episode treats the reunion as strategic convergence around the emperor rather than genuine reconciliation.
Hanji 991 backfills Li Jue’s most violent pursuit branch. After 汉献帝 leaves Chang’an and reaches the Hongnong area, Li Jue joins 郭汜 and 张济 in renewed pursuit, defeats the escort side around Hongnong Dongjian, and later attacks again after 董承 and 杨奉 draw in 白波军 and 南匈奴 reinforcements.
The episode makes Li Jue a direct example of 护驾与挟持模糊性. He can speak in terms of moving or controlling the emperor, but the practical result is dead officials, lost imperial records, captured ministers, and a night river crossing in which the court survives by physical escape rather than institutional protection. 贾诩’s advice stops him from killing captured ministers, but it does not reverse the coercive field.
李傕 / Li Jue (late Han) enters the wiki through Hanji 992 and Hanji 999 as one of the armed actors whose struggle over 汉献帝 leaves the late-Han court exposed. Hanji 992 shows the partial settlement after the flight: the emperor sends an envoy toward Hongnong, Li Jue releases some officials and returns some palace women and imperial items, but 长安 and 关中 remain devastated.
Hanji 999 then presents Li Jue’s conflict with 郭汜 as a power fight that makes Chang’an unlivable for officials and pushes the emperor toward the dangerous eastward return.
The page keeps Li Jue’s role source-scoped to this branch. He matters here less as a full biography than as the immediate pressure behind the emperor-escort problem later handled by 董承, 杨奉, 韩暹, and 张杨.
