零陵郡 / Lingling Commandery enters the wiki through Hanji 1027 as one of the three southern Jingzhou commanderies that 桓阶 proposes combining against 刘表. The episode treats it together with 长沙郡 and 桂阳郡 rather than as an independent administrative case.
Its significance is therefore structural. Lingling helps show that Liu Biao’s 荆州 control is not evenly integrated: the southern commanderies can become a collective bargaining and defection field when local elites see a better external alignment through 曹操.
