蔺相如 / Lin Xiangru enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·周纪》74丨还原完璧归赵真相！ as the 赵国 envoy sent to 秦国 with 和氏璧. The episode presents him as solving 赵惠文王赵何’s dilemma over 秦昭襄王’s promise to exchange fifteen cities for the jade.
His strategy is to accept the exchange so Zhao does not appear to reject Qin’s formal offer, then make Qin’s failure to name and transfer the promised cities visible. When Lin Xiangru sees Qin enjoying the jade without discussing the cities, he retrieves it through a ruse, sends it back to Zhao by a hidden route, and remains in Qin to face the consequences.
The source therefore makes him the human operator of 完璧归赵式外交. He protects the state asset while accepting personal danger, and Qin ultimately releases him because killing the envoy would not recover the jade and would worsen Qin-Zhao relations.
