郦食其 / Li Shiqi

郦食其 / Li Shiqi enters the wiki through Qinji 135 as a low-status persuader preparing to approach 刘邦. The episode introduces him after citing 李白’s 《梁甫吟》 and presents him as a poor older Gaoyang man who works as a gatekeeper and is locally called a “狂生.”

The source does not yet give his successful persuasion scene. It focuses on access. Li Shiqi hears that many commanders passing through Gaoyang are too narrow-minded for his advice, but that Liu Bang is arrogant while still approachable and interested in large strategy. He asks a cavalryman who knows Liu Bang to introduce him.

The cavalryman warns that Liu Bang dislikes scholars: he has reportedly taken a Confucian cap and urinated in it, curses people in conversation, and does not like being lectured by educated men. Li Shiqi still insists that the message be delivered: he is over sixty, tall, called mad by others, but says he is not actually mad.

Qinji 135 leaves the meeting as a cliffhanger. For that source, Li Shiqi’s role is a pending case of 低位者战略说服 and possible 谋略知己式归附, not yet a completed Liu Bang recruitment branch.

Qinji 136 completes the scene. The transcript renders him as “利益机,” but the role continues the same Li Shiqi branch. He enters while Liu Bang is seated with two women washing his feet, rebukes him for using an “无道” reception while claiming to attack Qin’s “无道,” and gets Liu Bang to stop, dress properly, apologize, and seat him as an honored guest.

Li Shiqi then turns access into strategy. He argues that Liu Bang cannot yet attack Qin’s core directly and should first seize 陈留, a route hub with stored grain and weapons. When the local head refuses surrender, Li Shiqi kills him at night and helps Liu Bang take the city. The episode credits him with major service while judging the method as morally compromised.

After Chenliu, Liu Bang enfeoffs Li Shiqi as Guangye Jun and accepts his recommendation of 郦商, appointing Li Shang as a general over many of Chenliu’s former troops. Li Shiqi’s branch therefore shifts from low-status access to useful but ethically dangerous retainer action.
