李术 / Li Shu (late Han)
Overview
李术 / Li Shu is the Lujiang administrator whose refusal of 孙权’s authority becomes Sun Quan’s first major internal-consolidation war in Hanji 1053. His page records a hard-edged case: a Sun Ce-era appointment can become a defection shelter and force a young successor to test whether inherited command is real.
Current Profile
Hanji 1053 presents Li Shu as the Lujiang official left in place after Sun-family expansion into the 庐江 field. When Sun Quan succeeds, Li Shu refuses to accept Sun Quan’s control and shelters defectors from the Sun side. Sun Quan then writes 曹操 to frame Li Shu as the killer of court official Yan Xiang and asks Cao Cao not to aid him. After Cao Cao ignores Li Shu’s appeal, Sun Quan attacks, captures 皖城, kills Li Shu, slaughters civilians, and relocates more than twenty thousand people.
Key Characteristics
- Converts a Sun-side commandery post into resistance against Sun Quan’s succession authority.
- Shelters defectors, making Lujiang a leakage point for Sun Quan’s fragile regime.
- Tries to use Cao Cao as an outside rescue channel after Sun Quan attacks.
- Becomes the negative case through which Sun Quan turns legal-political framing and military force into a visible authority test.
- Carries a severe civilian-cost qualification because the source records slaughter and forced relocation after Wan City’s capture.
Evidence
- Refusal and sheltering: Hanji 1053 says Li Shu does not accept Sun Quan’s control and takes in Sun-side defectors.
- Cao-side cutoff: Hanji 1053 reports Sun Quan’s letter to Cao Cao about Yan Xiang and Cao Cao’s refusal to save Li Shu.
- Defeat and coercive settlement: Hanji 1053 records Sun Quan’s capture of Wan City, Li Shu’s death, civilian slaughter, and relocation of more than twenty thousand people.
Qualifications
The current source gives Li Shu mainly through Sun Quan’s consolidation campaign and Sun Quan’s letter to Cao Cao. The wiki therefore treats the Yan Xiang accusation and Cao-side non-rescue as source-scoped evidence rather than a full independent biography. The civilian slaughter remains part of the judgment and prevents a purely affirmative “leadership” reading of the campaign.
What Changed
- Created the page from Hanji 1053’s Lujiang resistance and Wan City campaign.
Relationships
- 孙权 - successor whose authority Li Shu rejects and whose campaign destroys him.
- 孙策 - earlier Sun-family ruler whose Lujiang arrangements precede Li Shu’s resistance.
- 庐江郡 - commandery setting for Li Shu’s office and resistance.
- 皖城 - city captured by Sun Quan in the campaign against Li Shu.
- 曹操 - outside power from whom Li Shu seeks rescue and whom Sun Quan preemptively addresses.
- 继位权威整合 - concept explaining Li Shu as an internal authority test.
- 安全第一政治生存 - related frame for cutting off a hostile actor’s rescue path before fighting.
