Overview
李文 / Li Wen enters the wiki as a Western Han official and rival of 张汤 whose attempt to find damaging material in official documents is preempted by a covert accusation.
Current Profile
Hanji 338-2 presents Li Wen inside a retaliatory court chain. After enduring conflict with Zhang Tang, Li searches documentary work for a basis to report him. Zhang’s favored clerk 鲁谒居 secretly has someone accuse Li of grave misconduct; Han Wudi assigns the case to Zhang, who condemns and kills his rival. The later disclosure by Lu’s brother makes Li’s death an evidentiary route into Zhang’s own investigation.
Hanji 339-2 supplies the next procedural step. 减宣 reports Li’s death as connected jointly to Zhang and Lu, and the report changes 汉武帝’s view of Zhang from suspicion to formal pursuit. The later note therefore confirms Li’s posthumous importance without supplying a fuller independent biography.
Key Characteristics
- Western Han official in a long-running conflict with Zhang Tang.
- Looks for documentary evidence that could support an accusation against Zhang.
- Is preempted by a covert report arranged by Lu Yezhu.
- Is tried by Zhang Tang and executed in the episode’s account.
- Becomes central after death because the concealed accusation is later disclosed.
Evidence
Rivalry and documentary search:
- Hanji 338-2 says Li Wen has a prior grievance with Zhang and searches official documents for material that could harm him.
Covert accusation and death:
- Hanji 338-2 says Lu Yezhu arranges the accusation, the matter is assigned to Zhang, and Li is executed.
Posthumous case escalation:
- Hanji 339-2 says Jian Xuan’s report about Li’s death prompts formal accusations against Zhang.
Qualifications
The current evidence does not supply Li Wen’s complete career, the documents he examined, the exact accusation against him, trial procedure, or an independent account of his conduct. Hanji 339-2’s “joint killing” description is stronger than Hanji 338-2’s detailed chain and remains source-scoped. His page records his role in Zhang Tang’s downfall rather than establishing innocence in every possible charge.
What Changed
- Added Jian Xuan’s later report and Li Wen’s role in moving suspicion into formal charges against Zhang Tang.
Relationships
- 张汤 / Zhang Tang (Western Han) - rival who judges and executes Li after the covert accusation.
- 鲁谒居 / Lu Yezhu (Western Han) - Zhang’s favored clerk who arranges the report against Li.
- 减宣 / Jian Xuan (Western Han) - investigator who later pursues the disclosed Li Wen plot.
- 积怨式默认怀疑 / Accumulated Enmity Default Suspicion - broader pattern in which stored grievances create future accusation and retaliation routes.
