李燮 / Li Xie enters the wiki through Hanji 929 as the yilang who opposes restoring 安平王刘续 after Liu Xu has been captured by the 黄巾军 and ransomed. Li Xie argues that a prince who failed in his public role has humiliated the court and should not simply be restored.
The court rejects Li Xie’s advice and punishes him as if he had slandered the imperial clan. When Liu Xu is later executed and the Anping state abolished, Li Xie is released and restored to yilang, turning the source into a case of accurate risk judgment that becomes punishable before events prove it.
The episode links Li Xie to his father 李固 through the Luoyang saying that the father would not establish an emperor and the son would not establish a king. The comparison makes Li Xie’s objection part of a family pattern of privileging public order over formal or convenient title.
