楼敬 / Lou Jing

楼敬 / Lou Jing enters the wiki through Hanji 170 part 2 as the Qi man who reaches 洛阳 / 洛邑, refuses to change into fancier clothes before audience, and directly asks 刘邦 whether he plans to make Luoyang the new capital in imitation of Zhou.

His argument is historical and strategic. Zhou could use Luoyang because its authority rested on generations of accumulated virtue, ritual prestige, and a settled lordly order. Liu Bang’s 西汉 is different: it has just been made through violent campaigns, many deaths, and unsettled eastern territories. Lou Jing therefore argues for entering 关中, where old Qin territory supplies fertile land, defensive passes, and a base that can survive eastern rebellion.

The episode treats Lou Jing as the first adviser who breaks the superficial Zhou analogy. 张良 later confirms the argument with a fuller geography-and-transport analysis, after which Liu Bang moves west and fixes the capital at 长安. Liu Bang rewards Lou Jing as langzhong and names him Fengchun Jun.
