entity

Overview

吕旷 / Lyu Kuang (late Han) is a former 袁尚 / Yuan Shang subordinate whose defection to 曹操 / Cao Cao becomes the setting for 袁谭 / Yuan Tan’s credibility-costing seal maneuver.

Current Profile

In Hanji 1061, Lyu Kuang and 高翔 / Gao Xiang (late Han) leave Yuan Shang for Cao Cao after Yuan Shang withdraws from Pingyuan toward Ye. Yuan Tan then secretly gives them general seals in an attempt to draw them toward himself, revealing to Cao Cao that Yuan Tan is still maneuvering for private advantage.

Key Characteristics

  • Acts as a defector from Yuan Shang to Cao Cao during the Yuan brothers’ split.
  • Becomes an object of Yuan Tan’s private recruitment attempt.
  • Exposes the distrust inside Cao Cao’s temporary support for Yuan Tan.

Evidence

  • Defection and seal-lure: Hanji 1061 pairs Lyu Kuang with Gao Xiang as Yuan Shang subordinates who defect to Cao and then receive secret seals from Yuan Tan.

Qualifications

The current evidence treats Lyu Kuang as part of a paired defection episode. It does not yet distinguish his independent conduct from Gao Xiang’s.

What Changed

  • New page from Hanji 1061, created to anchor the defection episode that damages Yuan Tan’s credibility.
