芒砀山 / Mangdang Mountain

芒砀山 / Mangdang Mountain enters the wiki through Qinji 128-7 as the refuge area 刘邦 chooses after releasing the corvee laborers he was escorting toward 骊山. Because the escort failure occurs inside the 沛县 jurisdictional world, Liu Bang can no longer safely remain in his home county.

The source attaches Liu Bang’s white-snake story to this flight. Liu Bang cuts down a large snake blocking the road, and a later story says an old woman mourns that the son of the White Emperor has been killed by the son of the Red Emperor. The episode presents the story as a rumor that makes Pei County youths think Liu Bang is unusual and draws more followers to him.

For this wiki, Mangdang Mountain is therefore both a fugitive refuge and an early legitimacy landscape. It connects concrete flight from Qin law to later sacred explanation under 天命合法性 and 祥瑞政治.

Qinji 129-3 adds a Chen Sheng memory branch near the same landscape. After 吕臣 retakes Chen County and recovers 陈胜’s body, the episode says he reburies Chen Sheng at Dang County, near the Mangdang area, partly because the Zhang Chu side may not be able to hold Chen County securely. Mangdang therefore now connects both 刘邦’s fugitive legitimacy story and Chen Sheng’s attempted protection from posthumous Qin humiliation.
