蒙嘉 / Meng Jia enters the wiki through 《资治通鉴·秦纪》115-1｜荆轲刺秦似乎有点儿草率了 as the 秦国 court figure whom 荆轲 and 秦武阳 bribe after reaching 咸阳. The episode calls him a favored official and glosses his 中庶子 role as part of the ruler-adjacent private staff.
His function is access brokerage. Meng Jia presents 燕国’s claim that it fears 嬴政 / 秦始皇, will submit to real Qin administrative control, and asks only to preserve royal descent and ancestral sacrifices. The accompanying 樊无忌 head and 督亢地图 make that claim concrete enough to win a formal palace audience.
Meng Jia is therefore not the designer of the assassination, but he is the human channel through which assassination access credentials become actionable. The episode makes him a late-Warring-States example of how ruler proximity, personal favor, and gift-mediated access can matter even inside a highly institutionalized Qin court.
